Nat Berman, Founder @ The Be Better Movement | How To Build a Personal Brand

2026-04-29

We sat down with Nat Berman, the guy behind the Be Better movement.

He's been building online since Yahoo GeoCities. He built a sports blog that grew so fast he quit his job after nine months. He ran 25 different websites at one point. Now he's focused on personal branding and building community.

But this episode isn't just about personal branding. It's about authenticity. It's about what happens when you stop trying to be someone else and just be yourself online.

What we unpacked:

  • Your personal brand is an insurance policy on yourself. Build it early. Build it real.
  • Content creation is just living. You don't need a shortage of ideas. You need courage to press publish.
  • Own your audience from day one. Newsletter. Community. Something. Don't build on platforms you don't own.
  • Platforms always change. LinkedIn reach goes down. Instagram gets saturated. YouTube evolves. You have to diversify. But diversify the platform, not the message.
  • It's as hard to get one dollar as it is a thousand. It's a measurement of value.
  • Monetizing your brand doesn't have to be the goal. Impact comes first. The money follows.
  • Act on your hunches. Every few years something tells you to try something new. Listen to that voice.
  • TikTok and Instagram use a platform cycle. Give you massive reach to get you addicted. Then pull back and make you pay. It's inevitable. Prepare for paid advertising.
  • Your personal brand gives you optionality. You never start from zero again. Everything you build in the future will leverage what you've already created.

Be authentic online. Be exactly who you are offline. That's the competitive advantage.
